How fast is nemesis alton towers

This is when Nemesis, or Secret Weapon 3 as it was then known, was designed. There was also another ride called Nemesis: Sub Terra which was built in This was an ABC Rides indoor drop tower themed around a military compound owned by the Phalanx, the organisation who captured the Nemesis creature.

Many special effects were used, with the drop tower only being a small part of the entire experience. The ride closed in and currently remains SBNO. The train topping the zero-g roll. Despite this elaborate story existing, the communication of this to riders has decreased over the years and the ride, therefore, has lost the cohesion of theming and back story.

This was brought back, pretty successfully, when Nemesis: Sub Terra was introduced in which included a video pre-show explaining the monster and its steel-prison beneath the Nemesis track before going on to show the new discovery of its eggs.

Bringing the story back to the park worked wonders in linking the theme of the Forbidden Valley. Ceasing operation in , the story has once again become vague which is a shame really considering how elaborate and fun the story is. That being said, though less cohesive without the backstory, the theming of the ride is still pretty fun.

You twist and turn through tentacles and limbs. The track is purposefully painted to look rusted and strained to show the way the track has been contorted through the struggle with the monster.

For many years, the waterfalls ran red to give that atmosphere of gore, destruction and fear, though this stopped in around The whole area of Forbidden Valley, excluding Galactica previously Air , has a feel of this monster and the military Phalanx operations to keep it hidden and under control, which worked great with Sub Terra and to a lesser extent, the Project 42 scare maze.

Huge pieces of theming lie around the area and even Blade could be considered carnage from the fight against the monster. It all ties in beautifully and I think it works extremely well even without the explicit telling of the story.

The queue line can be extended pretty far but I have only ever experienced shorter queues on this ride which take you through the entrance gate, down into the crater that the coaster sits in and past one of the most impressive looking elements the ride has to offer, giving a taste of what awaits you when you begin the ride. When you enter the station, it is a bit of a free-for-all. There are often no employees this side of the station so you can pretty much choose where you want to sit.

Nemesis is 25 years old and has started showing its age slightly in terms of being a bit rough. The very back seat of the ride has been known to give you a headache as it rattles you around in your seat quite a lot. Other than that very back seat though, I would recommend sitting towards the back and on the right hand side of the train for what I consider the best experience of Nemesis with enough thrills and speed to make it an incredible coaster but without the headache to go with it.

The ride set the record at 32 riders — the number of seats on a single Nemesis train. It took the record from Thorpe Park's Nemesis Inferno roller coaster which set the record at 28 just three months prior. The ride lost the record in when 40 naked riders boarded Green Scream Rollercoaster at Adventure Island. In , Alton Towers received several complaints from nearby residents regarding increased noise levels emitted from the ride.

New wheels had to be installed on the two trains before the ride returned to normal operation. The metre-long 2, ft Nemesis stands 13 metres 43 ft tall, however, due to the modified terrain, it features a drop height of With a top speed of Riders of Nemesis experience between 3 and 4 times the force of gravity on the 1-minute, second ride.

Nemesis operates with two steel and fiberglass trains, each containing eight cars. Each car seats four riders in a single row for a total of 32 riders per train. As guests approach the ride a loud roar from the ride can be heard. Once the train is locked and checked the floor beneath it is lowered before the train then departs the station making a degree, right-hand turn towards the lift hill.

Once at the top of the metre 43 ft hill, the train makes a small dip and turns around degrees to the left. The Phalanx immediately launched their extreme security division to pin down the creature and disable it. It took tonnes of steel, bent and twisted around the monster, to hold it down. We converted the steel that imprisons the creature into the tangled rollercoaster you see here today.

What that g-force you felt? Or something sinister from much deeper beneath the ground? Unlike most other rollercoasters with a 32m drop, this ride keeps you close to the ground. Nemesis is as unique as they come.
